FATW6 – Adventures in Mosaic Crochet – Ocean Theme – Dragorad’s Regatta

Can you believe we are at strip 12 of 13 already! Today we have Dragorad’s Regatta designed by Lana Ignjatovic of Loving Stitches Designs, the same designer that just gave us My Anchors. So now we have boats to secure to our anchors. Great combination.

Just some sailboats on the bay during a morning walk. Always a beautiful sight!

So what exactly is a regatta? A regatta is a series of boat races, typically with sailboats or yachts. In the Venetian language, regatta means “contest.” There are some popular regattas around the world, and are pretty exciting to watch.

This pattern was named after Lana’s father-in-law, see what Lana says about her other patterns:

“In 2017 I started writing the patterns for my designs and on 12th September 2019 (my darling Dads birthday – sadly he got his Angel Wings on 23rd January 2021 and heaven gained a very special Angel) I was announced as the 1st Prize Winner in a local Shopping Bag Design Competition, I won a whopping R5000 cash and my pattern is published on the elle yarns website. This bag is named for my Mum, Wendy. An interlocking crochet blanket has been named for my darling Dad, Rocky’s Block-in-a-Block. I have designed and made a number of items over the past year and named them for special people in my life. The latest are for my dearest Father-in-law, Dragorad’s Regatta, which is a section of the FATW6 CAL; and Ljubica’s Lapghan is for my lovely Mum-in-law, this is still in the design stage.”

Looking forward to sharing more of her work in the future. Do be sure to check out her Loving Stitches Designs Facebook page. All links are on the pattern file.

Here are some great color ideas that our Makers have incorporated into theirs. Some of the Makers got adventurous and made theirs with the sailboats in more than one color. If you are comfortable enough to do that, you can. Either way it works out great. While the strip fits perfectly with our Ocean themed blanket, there is so much you can do with it even on its own. A table runner, place mat, wall hanging, are just some ideas.

Like My Anchors, this file too is hosted in our blog. You will only find it here. Just click on Download.
