FATW6 – Adventures in Mosaic Crochet – Ocean Theme – The Wave 2

Presenting Strip number 10 of 13; Wave 2 by Svetlana Rogatykh. This beautiful curling wave is the final section from Svetlana Rogatykh for this particular CAL. When you download this pattern, you will notice that all of the other sections she has given us are combined into one file. Should you choose to make a small blanket using all of her patterns, they are now all together. If you only want this wave section, the written part will be on page 14 of the file. As mentioned in a previous post, when our designers were invited to participate in this CAL, Svetlana sent in a file with more than one strip. We separated them so that we could have them released one at a time, but now that this is her last one, you will have access to the whole thing. The blanket would make a perfect baby gift or fit in with any nautical decor.

This is what it could look like if you work it as a small blanket on its own. Our Maker Suzanne has done an outstanding job with it and the colors are reminiscent of a Caribbean ocean. Also, she chose to make the fish in mirror image, working the pattern twice. You can work the sections as you wish, adding the narrow border in between, or any other combination you prefer. On August 19th when we release the border pattern for CAL blanket, this file will also be updated to include border for this small blanket. Stay tuned, its not much longer. The pattern explains everything very well, so please read it through carefully.

We have learned a lot about Svetlana Rogatykh so far and all of her talents. We know she lives in Moscow, Russia, knits, crochets, bakes the most amazing gingerbread houses, makes jewelry and loves to travel. Here she will tell us about her travels.

“It is very interesting to visit different cities, small towns and large cities. Each stone in them helps you to remember many stories, sometimes tragic, sometimes heroic, sometimes warm and joyful. All cities are very different and to get a feel for the city, you need to walk along its streets for a long time.”

Here are photos of some of the travels:

“I also really enjoy visiting nature reserves. One of them we especially love is Divnogorye. Divnogorye – is a plateau and open-air museum. This is a steppe on chalk hills, and, in addition to beautiful landscapes, there are a lot of rare plants listed in the Red Data Books. One such plant, Onosma simplicissima.”

Thank you so much, Svetlana Rogatykh, not only for sharing your beautiful patterns, but also sharing all of this fascinating information and gorgeous photos. It really helps us all feel like we are friends around the world.

Enjoy these photos of Wave 2 for now, thanks to our Makers. If you are working each strip, your Ocean themed CAL blanket is sure to be a nice size by now. We are happy to see a lot of people new to mosaic crochet, and how well they are doing with it. That was the goal of this CAL, to encourage people to try this technique and to see how it really is not difficult.

This time, rather than telling you more facts about waves, I have made this video for your enjoyment and to get you in a relaxed mood. I took this video while at the beach that is part of the Atlantic Ocean. For some parts of the world, the ocean may not be too close by.

And now, onto the pattern file on Ravelry:
