FATW6 – Adventures in Mosaic Crochet – Ocean Theme – Wave 1

Strip Number 8 is a Wave for our Ocean theme. After all, oceans are full of waves. Sometimes they roll in full force, and other times they are gentle. Waves transmit energy, are a disturbance of the ocean’s surface and are commonly caused by the wind as it blows across the ocean. The highest point of a wave is called the crest, and the lowest point is called the trough. The sound of waves crashing against the shore can be both calming and invigorating. People even use the sound of waves in their meditation. As you are working each stitch, may you feel the sense of calm. .

While this is the 8th strip for our blanket, it is the third strip released from Svetlana Rogatykh, our designer friend in Moscow, Russia. By now you should be familiar with her other works, if you have browsed her designs on Ravelry, Instagram, Youtube, Etsy (under Tracery Crafts) and Facebook. Do make sure to follow her as there are certain to be more awesome projects in the future.

We have seen some of her beautiful photos in the previous posts, learned that she loves to go exploring, knits, crochets, bakes, and now also finding out about her experience in jewelry making. What amazing pieces she has made,

Svetlana says, “Before I started drawing patterns and writing crochet and machine knitting tutorials, I made beaded jewelry for quite some time. These are photos of jewelry from a collection that I was preparing for an exhibition in Moscow. ”

These gorgeous pieces actually fit right in with our theme. I just adore that fish with the pearls! Being a Pisces, it is calling me. The whole collection is spectacular!

Back to the waves, Here again are some ways our makers have worked this pattern, whether as individual strips or part of a blanket with more than one repeat.

You will find the pattern here:
