Week 14 – Melanie

IMG_4089-700x700Welcome to Week 14 of Friends Around the World CAL!!!

This week we will be featuring Carolyn Christmas. You might know her from Pink Mambo.
http://pinkmambo.com/ Why Pink Mambo? Because “she loves the color pink, and crocheting one step at a time reminds her of dancing the mambo one step at a time.

She has lived and breathed crocheted most of her life. She’s “been a crochet designer, writer, marketer, magazine and book editor, tech editor, teacher, author and publisher. She’s designed many patterns, most recently Cheerful Child CAL that was very popular! It’s one that’s on my short list to make!

On her blog you will find so many categories for free patterns! Looking for a 12″ squares? 6” squares? Afghans, bags, shawls, slippers? You will find it all and a whole lot more a Pink Mambo.

To find out more about Carolyn you can go to her blog, Facebook page, Pinterest, Instagram, Twitter and Tumblr. You can also sign up for Carolyn Christmas design newsletter so you never miss a thing!

Below you will find the description and pattern link for week 14.

Melanie

This square uses some stitches that really makes it unique. It works up so well using combinations of sc, dc, and 3 dc clusters. But what really sets it apart are the rows with Berry stitches; a wonderful alternative to the popcorn stitch. This one is a winner!

I really enjoyed making Melanie! It was the first Carolyn pattern I had ever made.  One of our Admins, Margaret, also tested this square and was delighted in her result!  And it has inspired me to make others! I hope you feel the same!

Happy crocheting!

Laurene
